Jab We Met
Jab We Met
Jab We Met is a 2007 Bollywood comedy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
Aditya Kashyap (Shahid) is the son of a late industrialist who is embarassed by his mother's public affair. The movie opens with Aditya leaving the wedding of his one true love, to another man. Alone and depressed he boards a train to anywhere.
Boarding the same train is young Geet Dhillon. Geet is travelling from Mumbai to her home in Bathinda, Punjab. Young and attractive, she talks non-stop about anything and everything. She continues to talk, and then talks some more. Aditya, already feeling sad and depressed, appears to be on the verge of suicide. To avoid Geet's chatter, he finally gets off the train while she's half asleep. Geet, noticing that "Mumbai guy" has gotten off, follows him and tries to get him back on the train as it's leaving. He refuses to move and she runs to get back on the train.
The train leaves without her. She returns to him and blames him for her being stuck without her clothes and luggage. Now she expects him to take care of her and get her to Bathinda along with her clothes and luggage.
Jab We Met is the first Bollywood video that I bought. It is a perfect introduction to Bollywood. Shahid and Kareena turn in excellent performances, the script is well written and the chemistry they had off-screen genuinely comes across on the big screen. This movie showed me the depth and quality of Bollywood movies. It is just over two hours and twenty minutes long. There is plenty of good humor, song and dance routines, over protective Uncles and mischieviousness from Geet to enjoy.
Jab We Met is a clever, fun movie. I highly recommend it.
Score: 4 out of 4 Chatty Sikh girls from Bathinda.
